Schofield Barracks Barge Charter

Temporary Housing and Headquarters for the Schofield Barracks Army base in Hawaii.

During the summer of 2006, we moved 66 modular headquarters and barracks units to Schofield Barracks Army Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. This was a $36,000,000 construction project to expand the amount of temporary housing on the base. We arranged and managed all transportation details, including selection of loading and unloading ports, trucking, stevedoring, port arrangements, barge charter, and insurance, as well as all of the miscellaneous loads of materials associated with the project originating from various points throughout the lower 48 states.

The manufacturing location for the modular units was in Riverside, California. AFF Logistics visited the plant prior to production to confirm that protective measures were taken for the marine leg of transport and that all necessary tie-down and lashing attachments were applied in the correct places. Interacting closely with the marine surveyors throughout the process enabled us to ensure that correct procedures were undertaken from the beginning of the project. That greatly minimized the possibility of extra work or changes during the actual transport.

We had a number of tractors with specially equipped trailers at destination to transport these to site immediately after being off-loaded from the barge.
