The following is a general advisory regarding an announcement of a west coast waterfront agreement between the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) representing 29 west coast ports. The current contract between both organizations expired on July 1st, 2014 after being in place for the past 6 years.
The PMA and the ILWU released a joint statement by the presidents of both groups saying “After more than nine months of negotiations, we are pleased to have reached an agreement that is good for workers and for the industry. We are also pleased that our ports can now resume full operations.”
