We were recently updated by Tote Maritime regarding the status of the Dry Dock Vessels. Please see their communication below:
We wanted to take this time to update you on the progress of the North Star, which is in Victoria Shipyards being retrofitted to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG).
As you know, the North Star arrived at Victoria Shipyards mid-December to complete the first of two phases required to convert her to run on LNG. When the conversions are complete, the TOTE Maritime Alaska fleet will be amongst the cleanest and most environmentally-friendly cargo ships in the world.
The first phase of the North Star is on track. The LNG tanks have been secured directly behind the ship’s bridge and we continue to work on other key components of the conversion. We are also completing the standard regulatory dry-dock during this time in the shipyard.
The North Star’s return to service will be as follows:
- Depart Tacoma Friday, February 16th, 2018
- Arrive Anchorage Tuesday, February 20th, 2018
All established gate and vessel cut-offs will remain in place.
